Principal professional specialisms:
Graham’s role covers both the insurance and insolvency sectors, where he specialises in advising insurance companies and Managing Agents in respect of claims arising out of fraud and dishonesty allegedly perpetrated by regulated professionals.
His focus has long been in complex fraud investigations including:
- Missing Trader Inter-Community VAT fraud and Gangmaster VAT fraud; and
- Disguised theft (in its many and various forms) and the unpicking of improper commercial transactions.
Clients can rely on Graham to fastidiously investigate the allegations of wrongdoing before detailing his findings and recommendations in comprehensive reports. Graham derives immense satisfaction from being able to present clients with clear advice, backed by his detailed and well-evidenced analysis of the issues.
Graham also assists with asset recovery as a means of seeking redress and remedying the ill-gotten gains of dishonest professionals. Much of his work in this area involves:
- Analysing financial records and the performance of open source investigations to trace assets against which recovery action can be taken; and
- Liaising with clients and their legal representatives with regards to the implementation of the settled recovery strategy.
His experience in fraud investigation is well established, having worked in both the public sector as an officer at HM Revenue & Customs and within the private sector. He has typically focussed on the prosecution of offences and latterly in enforcement action.
The variety of casework he deals with daily allows him to draw on his technical knowledge built up over 15 years, as well as allowing him to learn skills in new areas.
